Booker Burst in Final Seconds Leads Suns to Victory

If Devin Booker’s performance had ended right there, with just 70 points, he wouldn’t be considered Kobe Bryant’s true successor. But to dive deeper, Booker made a remarkable feat in the final 37 seconds of the game, earning 5 free throws and hitting a three-pointer. He scored 10 points in those 37 seconds—arguably one of the most magical performances since Tracy McGrady’s famous 13 points in 35 seconds.

In the fourth quarter, Booker exploded. In just one period, he went 3-for-3 from the field, but it was his 11 trips to the free-throw line that stood out. Booker relentlessly attacked Kent Bazemore, Malcolm Delaney, Mason Plumlee, and others, with Bazemore committing 3 fouls on him, including one on a three-point attempt. With 1:50 left, the Hawks were still leading 100-91, but Booker, in the remaining time, drew 3 fouls, went to the free-throw line 7 times, hit a three-pointer, and made an assist. He scored 13 points in those final moments, bringing the Suns to a 104-103 comeback victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker played 42 minutes, shooting 9-for-17 to score 34 points, adding 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals. His incredible performance in the closing moments led the Suns to victory. Booker, who once scored 70 points in a single game, has shown the same drive to win, isolation scoring style, and technical mastery that resemble Kobe Bryant’s game. He was even personally recognized as Bryant’s successor when Kobe gifted him a pair of signed shoes.

In today’s game, Booker was unstoppable. He scored 8 points in the first quarter on 3-for-6 shooting and followed it up with 10 points in the second quarter on 4-for-8 shooting, ending the first half with 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. However, in the third quarter, his offense stalled. Although he executed a few pick-and-rolls, he passed the ball out each time.

In the third quarter, Booker didn’t attempt a single shot, finishing the period with 2 assists. After three quarters, he had 18 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists, but also 4 turnovers. In the final 12 seconds, Booker’s free throws gave the Suns a 102-101 lead, securing the win.
